  26. What is it?
  27. PhotoUpload is a utility to help build, manage, and share picture albums over the web.  After your album is created on your Macintosh you can upload it to one of the supported free photo sharing sites on the web and share it with others.

PhotoUpload lets you intuitively create albums by dragging and dropping images onto the application or window, lets you order and rotate the images, add names and descriptions, and finally uploads the images to a free photo sharing site.  The user can then click a URL button from within the application and your favorite browser is launched and opened directly to your newly created album.

  31. PhotoUpload supports over 30 types of image formats and automatically translates non GIF or JPEG files to JPEG before uploading, among a number of other features.  It is especially useful for photo professionals who are required to upload images in bulk.

  34. Instructions:
  35. 1) Create your photo album on your Macintosh by dragging and dropping pictures onto your album window.  After you have arranged the pictures in the order you like save it to your Macintosh.
  36. 2) From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.  Select your favorite photo sharing site,either PhotoIsland or PhotoPoint, and enter your login and password.
  37. 3) Click the "Info" button on you album and fill in some information about your album.
  38. 4) Click the "Upload" button and your pictures will be uploaded to the selected photo sharing site.

  40. *) Occasionally pictures do not correctly upload.  Select the image by clicking it within the album window and click the "Force Upload" button on the left side of the album window.  This will attempt to re-upload your image.

  42. A new WWW button will appear. Clicking on this button will take you to your album from within your favorite browser.

  44. Requirements:
  45. PhotoUpload requires at least QuickTime 3 for limited functionallity and QuickTime 4 or greater to be fully functional.  For instance, for technical reasons, image rotation is only enabled on systems running QuickTime 4 or greater.
  46. I have only tested Photo Upload running under Mac OS 9.

  50. Photo Sharing Sites:
  51. Currently PhotoPoint and PhotoIsland photo sharing web sites are supported by PhotoUpload.  According to InfoTrends Research Group, Inc. over 100 players are competing for a market estimated to be worth $4.4B by 2005
